Inspiration
For every NUS event and orientation, the school decides to use the same outdated map as a means for prospective students to navigate. As the school decides to not change its ways, we decided that the best way for people to adapt is to be forced to learn to navigate on the map via a fun way. As such, we took inspiration from the GeoGuessr craze and decided to make our own version that is a NUS only map.
What it does
We have 2 game modes to choose from. We firstly have the Classic Mode which is largely based off the original game. We also decided to add an additional game mode called the Close-Up Challenge where your score is multiplied based off how many hints you decided to take. The more zoomed in the photo is the higher your multiplier. The guessing feature for the game will be similar to the one in GeoGuessr, however, the map will be the outdated NUS map the school uses. The score will be from a range of 0 - 1000, where the score given will be based off a range off your pixel distance to the actual point on the map.
How I built it
- Next.js
- Google Map API

What's next for NUSGuessr
As we use geo coordinates as relative coordinates, moving forward is finding a way to automate the map choosing process on google street view instead of writing down each location individually.
