NUS Study Buddy

We created this mobile app to help NUS students better manage their studies, as well as provide some convenient features that are frequently used such as a built-in CAP calculator.

Inspiration

Based on one of our personal needs, As we always talked about how there could be an app that helps us to calculate our CAP and also the weightage of each assessment so that we have a better gauge of where we are standing. So, we decided to embark on this journey to make this app a reality!

What it does

  • Able to track modules added by the students, and in each module, track the grades of each assessment.
  • Able to calculate the CAP for NUS students based on the values entered. Works for both semester CAP and overall CAP!

How I built it

We used expo.io as the platform to test and monitor the app-building process. As for the framework and tech-stack, we used mainly React-native, Javascript and a few other small 3rd party libraries such as Moment, Async-Storage, etc.

Challenges I ran into

As this was our first time making a mobile app, it was difficult to code in JS, and also the layout of components was a challenge.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are very proud that we managed to produce a working prototype of the app we set out to do!
