Inspiration

The inspiration of Nurturely came from the need to help women overcome the challenges that comes with the maternal cycle. Most solutions out there focuses on only expectant mothers, indirectly assuming the nursing mothers don't need a solution tailored to their needs. However, a personal conversation with a relative on her struggles after child birth drew my attention to the need to create a platform that accommodates them.

What it does

Nurturely provides a unique user experience streamlined to suit our users requirements (Expectant mother, Nursing mother, Doctor, health practitioner, and guest). Our app provides access to daily health tips and facts, pregnancy tracker, suggestive meal and exercise plans, registered medication reminders(as we know women tend to be forgetful during this transformative time, and skiing medications posed a risk). It comes with a feature known as Nurturely assistant readily available to answer questions, and assist in providing necessary resources and recommend available doctors for an appointment. They also get to save towards the needs of their baby, and health bills, as the app safely keeps, and invest it for them. It provides a built-in marketplace to access baby products at cost effective rates, and the AI model suggests products they may need based on the users current data. The app has a community section specially designed for our users to share concerns, ideas, and experiences as they pass through this significant stage, creating a form of emotional support for our cherished mothers.

How we built it

The UI/UX designs were created using Figma, and shared a collaborative link so each member with a new idea can update the design. The front-end of the webapp was built with react and vite, and then vercel was used to host the application, and firebase to handle the authentication. The mobile app was built with flutter, and the AI integeration was with gemini, and gemini pro free API key.

Challenges we ran into

Despite the fact that our UI/UX designer had a technical issue (his system crashed) and he wasn't able to build anything, my team worked relentlessly to bridge the gap.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

My team were able to come up with something, despite the issue we had with one of our team members. It did not only improve our collaborative spirit, it also helped us build a better understanding about our strengths, and weaknesses as a team.

What we learned

We all learnt that nothing can stop us except ourselves.

What's next for Nurturely

Our team will try our best to get all our ideas out there, and work with interested organizations in deploying Nurturely
