Inspiration

Nurse TiTi was inspired by a simple but serious problem: in an emergency, people often don’t know what to do next. A wound, burn, accident, allergic reaction, or sudden medical crisis can become worse because help is delayed, people lack basic first-aid knowledge, or they don’t know which healthcare facility to approach. We wanted to create a tool that can provide immediate guidance while helping get the right people involved as quickly as possible.

What it does

Nurse TiTi is an emergency health companion designed to guide users through appropriate first-aid steps and help them access emergency support. Users can describe or photograph a medical situation and receive guidance on what to do immediately.

When an emergency is detected, Nurse TiTi can help alert a designated emergency contact, share the user’s live location, and, where supported by available responder integrations, notify nearby emergency responders. It can also provide critical medical information and help users locate appropriate nearby healthcare facilities.

Nurse TiTi is designed to support people during emergencies, not replace doctors or professional medical care.

How we built it

We designed Nurse TiTi around a combination of mobile technology, AI-assisted interpretation, location services, emergency communication, and healthcare navigation. The system is structured to receive information from the user, assess the situation, provide clear first-aid guidance, and initiate appropriate emergency-support actions.

The platform is designed with safety in mind, including clear limitations around medical advice, escalation to professional care, and responsible handling of sensitive health and location information.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was balancing usefulness with safety. Medical situations can be complex, and giving overly confident or inappropriate advice could be dangerous. We therefore had to think carefully about when Nurse TiTi should provide basic guidance and when it should immediately encourage professional medical attention.

Another challenge was designing reliable emergency-location and responder communication, particularly because emergency-response infrastructure and available integrations vary by location.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

We are proud to have transformed an everyday problem into a broader emergency-support concept that combines first-aid guidance, healthcare navigation, location sharing, and emergency communication.

We are especially proud of the focus on the critical moments before professional help arrives — helping someone understand what they can safely do while simultaneously making it easier for the right people to find them.

What we learned

We learned that building health technology is not only about creating something technically impressive. It requires careful consideration of safety, human behaviour, accessibility, privacy, trust, and the limitations of technology.

We also learned that the best emergency tools should reduce confusion rather than overwhelm people. In a crisis, instructions need to be simple, actionable, and easy to understand.

What’s next for Nurse TiTi

Our next step is to develop and test a functional prototype with real users and healthcare professionals. We want to validate the first-aid guidance, improve emergency detection and location sharing, and explore partnerships with hospitals, emergency-response organizations, and other relevant services.

Long term, we envision Nurse TiTi becoming a trusted emergency companion that can help people take the right first steps, reach appropriate care faster, and ensure that critical information reaches those who can help — wherever they are.
