What's happening in NU ?

With over 500+ clubs and student organizations at Northeastern University, staying in the loop is overwhelming especially for freshmen. Most clubs post events only on Instagram, and central calendars quickly go out of date.

That's why we built NuHappenIn.

What it does

NuHappenIn automatically scrapes club and organization Instagram pages, using AI to detect and extract unique upcoming events. Our system updates daily and filters out noise, giving students a centralized, reliable event hub.

How we built it

The website contains a CRON job which runs and gathers all the posts of the clubs and organization which have posted on that day. An AI reviews these posts and based on the captions, posts, images it says if it is an event or not. Students can visit this curated list on our website and also use natural queries to get there interested events to them
