"According to Gallup, teens spend 4.8 hours a day on social media. But when we surveyed our fellow undergraduate peers, we found that way too many students exceed this by nearly triple.
Even though they admitted feeling guilt and stress, fully aware they should be studying, they also said they felt helpless — constantly pulled back by notifications, FOMO, and the lack of structure that comes with college life. With no accountability, scrolling always wins.
So the problem is clear: Students are losing enormous amounts of time to social media — time that could and should be used for studying."
