Inspiration

Procrastination is AWFUL. As a high school student, I can never get myself to truly stop myself from procrastinating on everyday assignments. Due to the large amount of assignments ignored my stress load has significantly increased and has lead to depression. In order to combat the compulsiveness issue, I previously used built in programs such as android modes, which limit which apps can be used by the press of a button, but its too easy to bypass and continue to avoid tasks. So I invented Nudge, the app that will keep you accountable.

What it does

Nudge is a to-do list app which locks all selected apps on your device until photo evidence of each completed task. Those apps will only be accessible unless the to-do list is empty.

How we built it

I researched basic apps ran by expo go and built my testing app based on the template. I then learned how to further use expo go and began building the main Nudge app.

Challenges we ran into

I attempted to have the app be primarily standalone meaning it wouldn’t use expo go at all, simply the developers page. But I ran into over 10+ hours of issues to build the file and could not get the apk to be finalized.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I completed this app in the middle extremely packed weeks of school, including my 10+ hours of homework each week for 7 AP classes.

What we learned

I learned how to combine coding languages and compile them into a github codespace using react native and expo go to efficiently run apps.

What's next for Nudge

I want to implement an standalone system which incorporates AI that can analyze the photos given for each task and depict if the task is indeed completed. This is to enforce the users responsibilities and furthering the prevention of by-passing tasks that need to be completed. Along with getting rid of having to have an additional app to run Nudge.
