Inspiration

For nearly a decade, I worked in my family’s business. Like many small enterprises, we were constantly juggling SEO, marketing tasks, and daily operations—without the luxury of a dedicated team for each function. I built the first version of Nucleo to boost our internal productivity with AI assistants. But as I talked to other small business owners, I realized we weren’t alone. That’s when my vision for Nucleo expanded: from an internal tool to a scalable AI platform built for every small business.

What it does

Nucleo is a catalogue of AI-powered assistants tailored to small business needs. From SEO optimization to marketing content and executive task support, Nucleo offers ready-to-use AI workflows that save time and improve output. Business owners can choose the assistant they need, use it instantly, and focus on what matters most.

How I built it

I built Nucleo using only four tools: Bolt for the frontend, Supabase for authentication, data storage, file handling, and vector embedding for RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), n8n for orchestrating logic and automations, and OpenAI for generating assistant responses. This lean stack allowed me to move fast, stay flexible, and keep costs low while delivering powerful AI capabilities to small businesses.

Challenges I ran into

Working with real-time chat response in the frontend was a major challenge—especially maintaining responsiveness while managing API calls and asynchronous updates. I also had to handle file uploads, storage, and vectorization for RAG directly in the frontend, using Supabase. Balancing performance, security, and user experience in such a dynamic environment took several iterations and optimizations.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I launched a working MVP featuring core assistants for SEO, marketing, and executive support. Early testers reported real gains in productivity and clarity. I'm especially proud that Nucleo remains simple, effective, and fast to deploy.

What I learned

Small business owners value outcome-driven tools. They don’t want AI for the sake of it—they want AI that helps them get things done. Building around specific use cases like SEO and marketing gave me immediate traction and valuable feedback.

What's next for Nucleo

I'm expanding the assistant catalogue, introducing templates for specific industries, and preparing for the next phase: AI-powered customer support via messaging platforms. My long-term vision is to make Nucleo the all-in-one AI operations layer for small businesses—starting with what they need most, and growing with them.## Inspiration
