Inspiration

Jeanine a passionate Rwandan farmer and mother of 8. Last farming season she invested 300,000FRW hoping that she would get more than 2 times her investment but guess what, she only got a half of her investment. What a loss! When we met her she was already making her mind not to go into farming again as she stated “My 5 kids are not going to school and are not getting enough of the diet they should get.” When we asked her what caused all the losses she stated that “Because I live in the village, me and my cooperative get no large competitive market for our harvests and we often sell it to middlemen like supermarkets where they tell us that the transport is really expensive and take our harvest at lower costs. Because we don’t want our harvest to rot in the farm we ”just” sell to the middlemen and get into the dark of losses” This is not just Jeanine’s problem but a shared problem among most farmers in underdeveloped nation. No reliable market, safe transportation means of produce which leads to low motivation and courage for the farmers it is a combination of a Kinyarwanda word "Nta" meaning without and loss meaning that no loss ensuring farmers will always get their investments multiplied

What it does

Nta Loss connects potential customers (like large hotels, schools, and other organizations that provide food for their people) to farmers especially those working in cooperatives who can get harvest on a regular basis making sure that the consumers don't pose losses to the farmers and they get the most fresh produce for a good quality they offer in their services.

How we built it

The pitch deck was created using canva

Challenges we ran into

Designing for the fast time was a challenge as it was my first time to use canva software as I had to first be comfortable using the software.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Finishing the presentation on time and having been motivated to start building a software solution that will help the farmers and improve food quality. I am also proud of being able to ask my colleagues about using canva.

What we learned

By participating in pitch deck I learned to make beautiful presentations in canva and got more confident in making my own presentation of the project idea while being able to convince people about my idea.

What's next for Nta Loss

Building the real product by coding the mobile application using react native and SpringBoot for the backend. After this I will go on to the web application with React js and SpringBoot. These processes will be followed by deployment and advertisement
