Greenhouse gas emissions significantly contribute to climate change. The recent events with extreme weather has provided a chilling reminder of the need to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality and infrastructure of cities. Our inspiration is to provide cleaner air and healthy life for our communities and our next generations to come.
What it does
NOzone app will help cities qualify for the incentive plan incentive plan that can help reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by improving infrastructure in terms of more electric car charging stations, more bike lanes, improving mass transit using LNG thus improving the health of the communities.
How we built it
We connected air quality and temperature sensors to the Predix machine and pumped the data to Predix Cloud using MQTT protocol. We built a global view of the emissions and related data using Px Maps and the ability to drill down and see data in a more comprehensive manner.
Challenges we ran into
Network slowness, challenges with connecting to the kit, Px Component integration was not so straightforward.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- First time in a Hackathon in an all women team
- Learnt many aspects of Predix from the device (Predix Machine to Cloud to building an app using Px components) within a short time span.
What we learned
Learnt many aspects of Predix from the device (Predix Machine to Cloud to building an app using Px components) within such a short amount of time.
What's next for mm17
We're excited to present our application, receive feedback and learn best practices from other hackers.
