Inspiration
I have been part of sketching and wireframing UX but have not got an opportunity to develop a website. I was fascinated about the topic internet , hence wanted to build an site for it. This website will help students with lot of information about a topic or concept without needing to spend money for classes or time and effort to explore internet . It’s a one stop for information .
What it does
This site is basically an educational site like geeksforgeeks, W3C, where a student can learn everything about internet. I am planning to add more topics like programming language later on
How we built it
I initially tried with CSS, but it was lagging responsive design (supporting website in different devices). Hence I moved to bootstrap. I learnt the basics of website structure from the following website
https://uxplanet.org/z-shaped-pattern-for-reading-web-content-ce1135f92f1c https://webdesign.tutsplus.com/articles/understanding-the-f-layout-in-web-design--webdesign-687
I followed Z layout for Home page and F layout for child pages Added vedio in the background , and gave credits for the websites from which I took images and vedios.
I built the website using WebStorm , hosted the website in Google Could. Created bucket in Google cloud storage, created a google domain, verified bucket name , added configurations to support hosting in regions, permissions and web configurations
Challenges we ran into
Hosting static website in google is a new topic, never tried before. I learnt few docs in google, but it couldn't help. I was only able to create an account and create a bucket, but doesn't know how to proceed. I approached Rahul from Google, He helped me with next process. sharing file. I tried really hard, but could get a public link to access from chrome
I tried for few hours and lost hope , hence started running docker to containerize the application to host in azure. Rahul helped me to get a domain for my account , as it is a paid service and no matter whatever ways I tried, It asked me to have my own domain.
I finally hosted my website , and happy that I learnt a new stuff.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully hosted a website in Cloud premises
What we learned
Learnt Bootstrap framework and Google could hosting.
What's next for now-you-know
I am planning to add more educational topics , also use react for the website in future.
