Inspiration
Food wastage is a problem that is costly to businesses and the environment. This, along with an outlook of economic stability and opportunity, allows for unsold fresh food that would otherwise be thrown out at the end of the business day to be redistributed and repurposed.
What it does
Businesses list items they won’t be able to sell by closing time, and users nearby can purchase them at reduced prices, reducing food waste and saving money.
How we built it
We developed a web application that let's customer show see the restaurants based on their location's proximity and the let's the restaurants upload the quantity and pick up window.
Challenges we ran into
We faced technical hurdles in creating a functional prototype in the hackathon timeline. Determining which features would deliver the most value for our proof of concept prioritization and iteration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We try to reduce food waste, and be able to provide cheaper and affordable food to needy at the same time.
What we learned
We learned the potential in simple solutions, that requires less compute and resources to build, imitating our goal of saving resources.
