Inspiration
I am an childrens author and it takes a lot of time to illustrate the novels. The whole process is cumbersome and can take weeks. So i wanted to create novel illustrator for quick prototyping your novel or script which can be readily published in a matter of minutes rather than weeks.
What it does
It helps you create illustrated novels when you only have an idea. And it is you co-pilot to illustrate when you have your script ready. We have all seen children's stories illustrations. But what about novels? In this digital AI age i want to bridge that gap and make reading visually enjoyable too.
How we built it
We used V0 to build a front end app for the user to send in their ideas to our proprietary 3rd party Novel creator ( using MCP ). THese responses (text and images) received are then stored in S3 buckets and displayed to the user. The illustrated can be downloaded instantly and are displayed correctly without any glitch in e-book readers. FE build using V0 app Database connection - manually and V0 app MCP connection V0 app and server side changes
Challenges we ran into
One-prompting V0 to connect to aws-Aurora database failed. So had to find a work around and eventually had to do the manual way. Finally succeeded. Connecting with the MCP server was challenging as i had to make changes in both server and client side. Rate limit was challenging initially as i could not see if the core logic was working correctly. So, i had to use fallback models for it and it still continues.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Full app with storage and MCP connection done and it produces 5000 worded novels in 12-15 mins with consistent plot lines and characters (images). This is the first time Illustration for novels is done in a single prompt. I was able to complete what i started with just 33-credits spent on V0.
What we learned
AWS is easy to navigae and is a great fit for our workflow. Agent Q was readly available for all our aws related queries and helped us navigate the ecosystem seamlessly. THe AWS bedrock rate limits were a blocker especially for hackathons. SO had to use 3rd party models.
What's next for Novelist
Payment Integration, Multi-agent editing workflows, Story consistency validation, AI-powered illustration refinement, Integration with Publishers, Collaborative author workspaces & much more..
