Inspiration

Inspiration In Tamil Nadu, over 7 lakh Arts & Science aspirants struggle every year due to the lack of a unified admission system like TNEA for engineering. Each college follows its own admission process, causing confusion, missed opportunities, and stress — especially for rural, first-generation learners. Seeing this gap, we built NOVARIS — a transparent, centralized platform to simplify and streamline admissions.

What it does NOVARIS is an all-in-one portal for Arts & Science college aspirants (both government and private). It offers:

Verified college directory

Transparent fee structures

Cut-off analyzer

Real-time application tracker with deadline alerts

Map view of colleges

FAQs, reviews, and chatbot support It ensures informed decisions, reduces stress, and minimizes missed admission opportunities.

How we built it We designed and developed an MVP using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to demonstrate the platform’s features. The portal includes dynamic pages for college listings, fee transparency, and an application tracker prototype. We also designed a roadmap for scaling this into a full-fledged web and mobile application with AI-powered counseling in future phases.

Challenges we ran into Lack of a proper dataset of private Arts & Science colleges.

Making the portal simple and usable for rural, first-gen learners with limited tech exposure.

Differentiating NOVARIS from existing portals like TNGASA convincingly.

Building features like deadline trackers and cut-off analyzers in the MVP within time constraints.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Identifying a real, unaddressed problem affecting lakhs of students.

Developing a functional MVP with key features that solve the confusion and stress around admissions.

Preparing a scalable future roadmap including AI counseling, scholarship finders, and mock counseling simulators.

Crafting a strong problem statement and clear value proposition for both users and stakeholders.

What we learned The importance of user-centric design for non-tech-savvy students.

Realizing how even small gaps in admission processes can create large-scale problems for aspirants.

Technical skills: building trackers, designing intuitive UIs, and feature prioritization for MVPs.

How to handle jury expectations, especially differentiating from government portals like TNGASA.

What's next for NOVARIS Integrating AI counseling chatbots.

Expanding to all states beyond Tamil Nadu.

Partnering with EdTech platforms and NGOs for data collection.

Developing mobile apps with multilingual and offline support.

Running pilot programs in collaboration with select colleges to refine features based on real student feedback.
