Inspiration
The idea behind Novanti emerged when we noticed that many talented artists use their personal sites to sell and commission art, rather than joining one centralized network. Not only was this fragmentation holding back the community, but the commission process itself often felt unsafe and confusing. We thought, “What if we could create a secure, unified platform where creativity meets trust?” And thus, Novanti was born!
What it does
Novanti is a platform designed specifically for artists to showcase their work, manage commissions, and connect with clients in a secure and streamlined way. Whether you're selling original art or taking on custom projects, Novanti offers tools to display portfolios, handle transactions, and manage client communications—all under one roof. Our innovative system even holds payments in escrow using the Stripe API until project milestones are reached by the artist, ensuring peace of mind for everyone involved.
How we built it
Frontend: Next.js with Turbopack for lightning-fast rendering and dynamic user interfaces. Styling: Tailwind CSS for a sleek, responsive design that looks great on any device. Backend: Robust server-side logic that integrates with the Stripe API to securely hold funds in escrow until agreed milestones are met by the artist. Consolidated with a SupabaseDB
Challenges we ran into
Technical complexity and novel frameworks
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Not making a chatgpt wrapper
What we learned
Traditional allocations of work like splitting up of work into backend and frontend are not optimal for every problem set
