Inspiration

The inspiration for Nova Career stems from the significant challenges young graduates, particularly in Africa, face in securing meaningful professional opportunities. With 70% of students reporting a lack of job prospects post-graduation, coupled with issues like unemployment, underemployment, and the prevalence of falsified CVs eroding recruiter trust, we saw a pressing need for a solution. Nova Career was envisioned as a platform to bridge the gap between students and employers, offering personalized guidance, verified profiles, and equitable access to opportunities, especially tailored for the African job market.

How we built it

Nova Career was developed with a robust and modern technological foundation to ensure scalability, usability, and reliability:

  • Frontend: Built using JavaScript and Tailwind CSS to create a modern, responsive, and intuitive user interface that ensures a seamless experience for students and recruiters.
  • Backend: Powered by Flask and Python, providing a sturdy and scalable architecture to handle complex operations like profile analysis and matching.
  • AI Integration: Leveraged Gemini APIs for the intelligent chatbot and document analysis, enabling personalized career coaching and CV verification.
  • Google Calendar API: Integrated for seamless scheduling of interviews and reminders.
  • Database: Utilized Firebase/Firestore for secure, real-time data storage to manage user profiles, job listings, and interactions efficiently.

The platform’s core features include CV uploading, AI-driven profile analysis, intelligent job matching, a career coaching chatbot, CV authenticity verification, and Google Calendar integration, all designed to streamline the journey from student registration to employment.
