Inspiration

Finding sources for medical research papers is a very challenging and time-consuming process. Most articles/papers that are screened are not included as a source in the final project, and it's very tedious to manually search for reliable articles online.

What it does

Nova aims to streamline the process of finding credible research sources to support your papers. It accomplishes this by providing a one-stop-shop to aggregate, filter, and review potential citations from high-quality peer-reviewed journals.

How we built it

  • React
  • Chakra-UI
  • Nature-Springer-API
  • TypeScript

Challenges we ran into

  • Designing a website while optimizing for UX, trying to create a smooth and frictionless user flow
  • Determining the scope of the project and deciding what features to prioritize

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Building a user-friendly website with a solid UI, and using Figma to design it
  • Given the short time-box, we were able to design, research, and create a functional website

What we learned

  • Designing and prototyping is challenging
  • It's fun to work on a project that solves a real-world problem!

What's next for Nova

  • Adding real-time collaboration features
  • Leaderboards to incentivize collaboration efforts
  • Better filtering and searching of articles
