NOTTradingBot

We've developed a series of trading bots to solve Optiver's challenge with the objective to implement a complex strategy to gain the maximum profit and stimulate the green energies market.

Inspiration

We have been inspired by Optiver's challenge and the will to learn how trading algorithm work.

What it does

Our project is based in a series of bots, each one implementing a different strategy, with the goal to build a complex algorithm that gains the maximum profit and stimulates the green energy market. The first one is the simplest and the last one is the most complex.

Although we were very enthusiastic and tried as hard as we could to make a great bot with all the strategies we thought, our lack of previous experience was the greatest obstacle and the one that caused our complex bot not to work.

We are not sharing the code through GitHub as Optiver asked us to keep the code private.

How we built it

We built it using Python and the API and Cloud9 developing environment provided by Optiver.

Challenges we ran into

  • No previous experience on stocks trading and trading algorithms.
  • No knowledge of financial mathematics.
  • No knowledge on trading algorithms.
  • First time working on a project related to trading and finances.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We've managed to build a bot that, even being very simple, manages to make a small profit.

What we learned

  • Trading algorithms.
  • Financial metrics and general financial mathematics.
  • Working with Optiver's API.

What's next for NOTTradingBot

  • Finish the complex bot by implementing both trading algorithms we thought it to have and make sure they work.
