How we built it
The app was developed using a combination of modern programming languages and frameworks. The backend, responsible for real-time monitoring of class enrollments and waitlist statuses, was built using languages like Python or JavaScript and leveraged database management systems. The frontend, focusing on user experience, was crafted with technologies such as React or Flutter, ensuring a responsive and intuitive interface. The app also integrates with the university's course registration system API for real-time data.
Challenges we ran into
The major challenges included ensuring real-time data accuracy and handling high user traffic, especially during peak registration periods. Developing a seamless integration with the university's existing course registration system was complex, requiring extensive testing and debugging. Additionally, creating a user-friendly interface that caters to diverse student needs while maintaining the app's performance was challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of creating an app that significantly eases the course registration process for UC Irvine students. Our real-time notification system and the integration of a map and schedule planner are unique features that set "Notify Me" apart. The positive feedback from students, highlighting how the app has alleviated stress and improved their academic experience, is our greatest accomplishment.
