Inspiration

Two years before the Coronavirus pandemic (during freshman year of HS), I was in quarantine for about a month due to a rare eye disease. During this time, I felt an overwhelming amount of loneliness and disconnection from the world, so receiving cards from friends and family meant the world to me. I want to use my project to help the thousands of seniors who are facing severe loneliness.

What it does

Through this website, anyone can anonymously write an encouraging note to a senior citizen. The notes are then printed out and sent to meal delivery service centers for the elderly. The notes are distributed to each food basket to reach the senior citizens.

Proof of Concept

  1. Experience: I started Notes for Support, where people can submit a message to a COVID-19 healthcare worker or patient. I've printed & sent over 2k letters to over 30 hospitals.
  2. Gavin Newsom, the governor of CA, has just recently announced plans for delivering 3 meals daily to seniors at no charge.
  3. Connection: My mom is a volunteer at one of these meal delivery center chain.
