Inspiration

I’ve watched countless students struggle to find quality notes that truly match their needs, often overpaying on platforms that take huge cuts. I wanted to change that. NotesMarket was born to give students a place to buy and sell study notes at fair prices, earn while they learn, and trust that what they see is exactly what they’ll get, thanks to our AI verification.

What it does

NotesMarket is an AI-powered marketplace where students can upload, browse, and buy study notes by subject, grade level, or topic. Sellers earn directly with minimal platform fees. Meanwhile, our AI checks if the note’s description truly matches the file, awarding an AI-Verified badge, building buyer trust and ensuring quality. Buyers can also leave 5-star reviews and comments on purchases, helping others make informed choices and rewarding top sellers.

How we built it

I used:

Supabase for our database, authentication, and storage (plus Edge Functions for processing).
Stripe to handle secure payments.
Gemini to analyze note content vs descriptions and verify accuracy.
Bolt to rapidly scaffold the project, spin up Supabase resources, integrate Stripe, and even auto-deploy Edge Functions, dramatically speeding up development.

Challenges we ran into

Like any build, I hit a few bumps:

Frequent cold starts on Supabase since this is hosted on free mode, causing us to have session problems. A quick re-log fixes it in the meantime.
Fine-tuning the AI checks to compare file content with descriptions took some trial and error. Prompt tweaks and context examples solved it quickly.
Getting Supabase Edge Functions to securely talk to Gemini needed careful environment setup, but Bolt made managing secrets and deploying functions seamless.
I wanted reviews & comments to be robust from the start, so I iterated on the schema and UI until it felt right.

By keeping the scope tight and testing often, I overcame these challenges fast, and ended up with a smoother, more trustworthy product.

Seamlessly connected Gemini with Supabase and Stripe using Bolt’s environment, no messy backend setups.
Created a transparent earning model where students keep more of what they make.
Finished the MVP of my dream project that would help students around the world, with the help of Bolt's capabilities.
