Inspiration
When I was studying in university, there were e-mails sent out to students asking people to be note takers for people who may have a disabilities that inhibits them from taking class notes. Noted Echo seeks to help students by allowing speech to be converted to text that can be read later on as well as take notes.
What it does
Noted Echo is a web app that allows users to transcribe speech to text and take notes at the same time. This could help people who may have a listening disability or people who have a hard time concentrating in class.
How we built it
Noted Echo was built using Next JS as the main front end framework and as such Node JS as the back end. Astra DB was used as the database, Editor JS was used for the text editor, and Symbl AI was used for the conversation analysis and speech to text.
Challenges we ran into
By the end of the project, it was getting harder to maintain the entire filesystem, and a better file structure would help in future projects.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I was glad to be able to learn the use of all the new technologies that I didn't have previous experience for, such as using APIs, NextJS, AstraDB, EditorJS, and Symbl.AI.
What we learned
Many new concepts were learned during development as well as some file organization tips in Next JS.
What's next for Noted Echo
Possibly find a way to upload and implement video and audio files to be analyzed by Symbl Ai.
