Inspiration

Health information can often feel confusing, technical, or difficult to understand. I wanted to create a simple tool that helps students and everyday users understand health-related questions in clear, accessible language. This inspired NoteCare AI, an AI-powered health-information assistant.

What I Built

NoteCare AI is a web-based AI assistant where users can ask health-information questions and receive simple explanations. The application uses a clean, user-friendly interface with a Python Flask backend and the Gemini API to generate responses.

Key features include:

  • 🩺 AI-powered health-information explanations
  • 💬 Conversational question-and-answer interface
  • ✨ Simple and accessible response style
  • ⚠️ Safety-focused approach to health information
  • 🌐 Web-based frontend
  • 🔗 Flask backend with Gemini API integration

How I Built It

I developed the frontend using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and created the backend using Python and Flask. The backend connects the application to the Gemini API, processes user questions, and returns AI-generated responses to the frontend. I used Git and GitHub for version control and project documentation.

What I Learned

Building NoteCare AI helped me understand how to connect a frontend application to a Python backend, integrate an AI API, handle requests and errors, structure a GitHub project, and think about responsible AI when working with health-related information.

Challenges

One of the main challenges was connecting the frontend, Flask server, and Gemini API reliably while handling connection failures and unexpected responses. Another challenge was designing the assistant so that health information is presented clearly without positioning the AI as a replacement for professional medical advice.

Future Plans

I would like to improve NoteCare AI with stronger source references, better safety checks, multilingual support, improved response quality, and additional health-information features.
