Inspiration
The idea for Note Taker: Audio Transcriber was born from the need to efficiently capture large amounts of information under time constraints. Whether it's recording detailed meeting notes, lectures, or spontaneous ideas, people often struggle with transcription and summarization. This inspired us to create a tool that not only converts audio into text but also enhances productivity by summarizing key points. Our app meets the growing demand for quick information management in remote work, education, and other fields.

How we built it
We developed Note Taker as a mobile app using modern development tools and cloud infrastructure. The architecture supports smooth navigation and scalability for handling complex tasks like transcription and AI-powered features. Our server setup integrates with third-party APIs for transcription, language translation, and AI enhancements, allowing us to deliver a robust experience without the need for deep backend expertise.
For analytics, we rely on Amplitude to track nearly all in-app actions, which helps us understand user behavior and popular flows. Finally, we use RevenueCat for managing in-app purchases, ensuring smooth and reliable monetization.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was ensuring the seamless integration of multiple technologies while maintaining speed and accuracy. We also faced the challenge of balancing a minimalist design with powerful functionality, especially when supporting multiple languages and large files.
Optimizing server performance and managing infrastructure costs were critical, but we implemented solutions to efficiently handle file processing and API requests.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how smoothly our app handles transcription and AI enhancements. Despite the complexities of backend development, we successfully built a solution that provides accurate transcriptions with an intuitive user interface. Our analytics also give us valuable insights into user behavior, guiding our development decisions.
What we learned
We learned the importance of choosing the right tools for the job, especially when working with APIs and cloud services. Our experience taught us the need to optimize for performance and response times.
What's next for Note Taker: Audio Transcriber
We have successfully introduced an import feature that allows users to bring files from various sources, fulfilling a key part of our initial vision. Moving forward, we plan to expand export options, improve interaction with transcribed text, and enhance AI features. Additionally, we will focus on refining UI/UX, adding smoother animations, and further optimizing workflows. This is just our MVP, and we have an exciting roadmap full of new features and improvements.
