Inspiration

We wanted to create something different than escape rooms and make it fun and exciting. We liked the idea of a frogger type of game so when we saw the mines and electric fences, it gave us the idea.

What it does

The game has walls that move to block your way, mines (which blow you up and spawns you back), traps (which freeze you for 5 seconds), and electric fences (which zap you and spawns you back), ducks to collect to get points and boots and skulls that deduct duck points if you collect those.

How we built it

Rohn and I built the world using meta horizon editor tools and trimesh assets that were available in the menu and some free ones provided. We worked on codeblock scripting for certain items and also animation.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a problem of how to make the countdown timer and some issues with leaderboards with the boots and skulls to deduct duck points. I set up sessions with a mentor to help with that for us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Rohn and I are proud of creating a game other than escape rooms. We are pretty new creators and are proud of how much we are learning and learned. This world inspired us to do something out of our element. We are very happy how it came out but know with more time we need to fix many things and make it better.

What we learned

We learned more scripting for leaderboards and timers from a mentor session. Learning about the metrics and how to try to help make our worlds run better.

What's next for Minefield Mayhem: Collect the Ducks

We would like to add some more IWP’s in the world and think of more fun things to bring people in the world more to want to play over and over again. Also, need to fix the boots and skulls collected to deduct duck points.
