Inspiration
The inspiration for this project comes from my experience being both landlord and a renter. My family has always had rental property, and I've managed a few of them myself. I've always been of the opinion that manage rental properties was high way robbery for our tenants, based on how much work I had to put into it. And as I renter I was frustrated that I couldn't build equity, but needed a place to live short term for college, job, and other reasons. I wanted to have a way for people to have access to building equity in the same fashion, but still have the same mobility they were accustomed to.
What it does
Nostradomus fractionalizes NFT property deeds and exchanges a fraction of the equity in the home with every payment made. In the event that a tenant does decide to move, he can just hand over the right's to occupy NFT to the next tenant, and still hold on to his equity that he had in the home while he was there.
How we built it
We built a very very low low functioning MVP just using solidity and scaffold-eth
Challenges we ran into
Well Kovan network was getting congested a whole bunch so it was challenging to use the chainlink AnyAPI feature for AVM information on homes. Also the market vendor smartzip doesn't seem to still support their endpoint, so we couldn't even get data even if we were on kovan
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We just proud of home much we learned from this all being new to the space. Whole team were first time hackathoners on the welcome track! With no solidity experience!
What we learned
We learned a lot about inheritance, transfer logic, connecting smart contracts
What's next for NostraDomus
I think it's time to take the idea back to the drawing board. We learned a lot about what could be done differently from the hackathon.
