A data marketplace of any kind like temperature, atmopheric pressure, rivers water level, noise, movement and so on, and sale it. NIP-90, NIP-15.

Inspiration

Last year our nearby state Rio Grande do Sul faced a historic flood, spreading throug the entire state! Thousands of families affected as you could imagine. Even Starlink had to help them to provide the emergency teams a minimal comunication platform. Way before that, some friends in Rolante (RS), the most bitcoinized city in the world, asked us to provide them a way to track the rives flow. They face at least to floods a year. The challenges are big, most of the rivers are spread over a wide area through the woods. We've been trying to help them with some sort of sensors to monitor and forecast those floods. But who will pay and give maintenance to those sensors ? How could bitcoin help them?

What it does

Collect data of several enviromnmental sensors like rain, pressure, temperature, humidity, whatever, distributed along a region subject to natural disasters, or not! It provides a platform to anyone join and sell sensors data over Nostr and receive some sats for it, stimulating the instalation and maintenance of those collecting stations.

How we build it

We took the LoRa radios with open source Meshtastic project infraestructure and the telemetry feature to collect real time data, into a Rust server, then published to a Market Place with a front end, so people interested about the data can purchase a specific historical data or readings to come, and pay in bitcoin with nostr.

Challengs we ran into

We had some internet connection difficulties, more over stabilizing the LoRa mesh network at site.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Developing a simple and efficient front and back end do store and sell the data collected.

How to implement NIP-90, deploy a LORA mesh network, collect data from sensors and more.

What's next for Nostr DataMarket

We intend to improve the data collection using a real remote environment, write some firmware to integrate sensors that are not supported by Meshtastic and also integrate sensors that do not need the Lora communications at all. Provide a API to allow AI agents to buy and sell data as well.
