Inspiration
Our group tends to be a sentimental one, so we wanted to explore something emotional that could be made tangible. We kept coming back to nostalgia, a feeling we believe comes closest to time travel.
What it does
Nosti is a speculative wellness tool that detects and regulates nostalgia through biometric sensing and music, designed for adults experiencing emotional overwhelm.
How we built it
We built the concept in Figma through many iterations, a very chaotic FigJam board, and a bit of AI assistance to help us translate our ideas into something that could exist, even if only as a concept.
Challenges we ran into
Our ideation process was smooth, but once we began turning our ideas into an actual app, we ran into inconsistencies in our user flow. This made it difficult to produce something we were fully satisfied with. Even so, we believe the final concept communicates our vision clearly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we had the courage to enter a design‑a‑thon at all. Our main goal was to gain experience and understand what it feels like to design under intense time pressure. We are also considering expanding this concept into a more fully developed project.
What we learned
Planning is important, but so is flexibility. There were many features we wanted to include, but we had to prioritize the core idea and let go of the rest.
What's next for Nosti
We may explore nostalgia beyond music and experiment with scent, since smell is also a powerful trigger for memory.
