Inspiration

When we talk about nostalgia, we are reminded of the memories we built while watching movies. We wanted to create something that would help us remember those movies using the latest AI technology.

What it does

This web application combines Cohere AI and Svelte to deliver a nostalgic movie recommendation website. When users input a year, they will be recommended a movie of that particular year, including some relative trivia using Cohere.

How we built it

Cohere AI was prompt-engineered using Python and then run on a Flask app using REST API. Svelte was used for the front-end features and connected to the back-end using Node.js.

Challenges we ran into

We were new to using Cohere, and Svelte, and learning to build a project using these was one of the challenges we ran into.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we managed to build a fully functional, AI-driven web app in such a short amount of time. We're happy to have gained so many new skills and pushed ourselves outside of our comfort zone.

What we learned

We've learned how to communicate and manage time better and teamwork among learning various new technologies and tools.

What's next for NostalgAI

We wish to extend this to games and song recommendations that would also include thumbnails.
