Around the world, we still see a gap between awareness and action when it comes to sustainability. While many people care about the environment in theory, real-world habits often lag behind. We were inspired to create Verda to bridge that gap — making sustainability part of daily life through simple, verifiable actions.We believe that with the right motivation, tools, and technology, small choices can add up to massive global change.
Verda challenges users to complete daily eco-friendly tasks — like using reusable bags, sorting waste properly, or choosing sustainable transportation. Each challenge uses AI and real-world integrations (camera scans, GPS, receipts, and more) to verify that users actually completed the task, making sustainability real and accountable, not just a checkbox. In order to motivate users, we implement rewards system, each challenges produces points which can be used to exchange for vouchers (can be used with collaborating app, maybe like meituan, taobao, etc.) or small items.
We designed the prototype in Figma. For demo-able AI, we used models like efficientnetv2s for class classification.
In this project we ran to several challenges:
- Balancing a minimalist, intuitive design while still providing enough functionality to feel complete.
- Classifying the trash
We learn how important it is to think about real-world verification early when building habit-forming apps and how AI and environmental sustainability can work together to create real impact when approached creatively.
