Inspiration

Despite the presence of multiple travel planning apps worldwide, there is no dedicated solution for the northern areas of Pakistan. Travelers heading to this region often struggle with scattered information, missing itineraries, and budget overruns. We built NorthScape to fill this gap — a smart, localized planner designed specifically for Northern Pakistan’s unique travel needs.

What it does

NorthScape helps users:

Create structured itineraries with destinations, activities, and timelines.

Track and optimize budgets to avoid overspending.

Consolidate scattered travel info (bookings, notes, reminders) into one dashboard.

Provide smart suggestions for destinations and packages tailored to user preferences.

How we built it

Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript for responsive design.

Backend: Spring Boot + MySQL

Hosting: Vercel for frontend, Koyeb for backend services,Aiven or DB.

Tools: GitHub for collaboration, PlantUML for diagrams, and Figma for design mockups.

Challenges we ran into

Configuring CORS and API endpoints between Railway backend and Vercel frontend.

Handling budget calculations dynamically across multiple plans.

Designing a minimal yet elegant UI consistent with our purple‑pink theme.

Synchronizing database schema with evolving features during hackathon deadlines.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a working prototype that integrates itinerary, budget, and travel info.

Deployed backend and frontend successfully on cloud platforms.

Created clean, themed visuals to highlight problems and solutions.

Learned to troubleshoot real deployment issues under time pressure.
