Inspiration
When the topic was first revealed, we started with research. The first thing that showed up was water scarcity, and that was enough to highlight it's importance. According to our sources, agriculture alone takes up 80% of accessible water, and therefore it's extremely substantial that we preserve it.
What it does
Our app makes farming more productive and organized for hard working farmers, who often struggle to harvest proper crops while also ensuring they are wasting water.
How we built it
Primarily, we used Python and HTML to code the app, with aid with AI to make the general structure and debugging.
Challenges we ran into
The most difficult part was a little different during the hackathon. We identified the problem we wanted to solve almost instantly, but coming up with a proper solution took a good amount of effort.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It solves a major problem in the Central Valley and we were able to build an app successfully.
What we learned
In this hackathon, we learned how to use APIs properly.
What's next for Poseidon
In the future, we are hoping that we can implement the app to water pumps to make watering crops automatic.
