Inspiration

Students often miss valuable internships, hackathons, and career opportunities because they struggle to determine eligibility, identify required skills, and prioritize opportunities that best match their profile.

I wanted to build a platform that acts as a personal career advisor, helping students make informed decisions and avoid missing opportunities that could significantly impact their future. This idea inspired the creation of NoRegret AI.

What it does

NoRegret AI is an AI-powered Career Intelligence Platform that helps students:

  • Discover relevant career opportunities
  • Analyze eligibility based on academic profile
  • Identify missing skills
  • Understand career readiness
  • Receive personalized recommendations
  • Prioritize opportunities using AI-powered ranking

The platform combines student data, opportunity information, and Gemini AI to generate actionable career insights.

How we built it

The application was developed using:

  • Streamlit for the frontend interface
  • Python for backend logic
  • MongoDB Atlas for cloud database storage
  • Google Gemini API for intelligent analysis and recommendations
  • Plotly for interactive visualizations
  • Pandas for data processing
  • PyMongo for database connectivity

The database stores both student profiles and opportunity information, allowing the AI system to compare requirements with individual student qualifications.

Challenges we ran into

During development, several technical challenges were encountered:

  • MongoDB Atlas SSL handshake issues
  • Network access and IP whitelist restrictions
  • Environment variable configuration problems
  • Streamlit session state management issues
  • Duplicate widget key conflicts
  • AI response parsing and formatting challenges

These issues required extensive debugging and testing before achieving a stable system.
