Inspiration In Tubas, Palestine, small farmers lose 30-40% of their profit to middlemen. They have amazing products - olive oil, zaatar, dates - but no direct way to sell globally. PayPal is not easily accessible for them. We wanted to change that.
What it does Nour Pay is an AI-powered marketplace that:
- Lets Tubas farmers list products in Arabic, AI auto-translates to English
- AI prices products fairly based on market data
- Buyers pay directly with PayPal - money goes straight to farmers
- AI Chatbot helps farmers manage orders
How we built it
- Frontend: React + Tailwind
- Backend: Node.js + Express
- Payments: PayPal SDK & PayPal API for direct payouts
- AI: TensorFlow for price prediction, OpenAI for translation & chatbot
- Database: MongoDB
Challenges we ran into
- PayPal integration in Palestine region limitations
- Making AI understand local Palestinian products and Arabic dialects
- Designing a super simple UI for farmers with low digital literacy
