Inspiration
When thinking up of ideas for the hackathon I contacted a current med student. She mentioned one of the big problems that hospitals face with opioid substance users is figuring out their opioid usage history as a treatment. Opioid users that are going through treatment must show up to clinics on a regular basis. When the schedule is deviated, they experience withdrawal symptoms. When these patients show up at the ER with these symptoms, doctors have no way of knowing their history because they have a difficult time contacting clinics. Doctors need to know their last dosage to legally give them treatment for symptoms.
