We were inspired by other PKM applications such as Notion, AnyType, Miro, and Obsidian. We wanted to create a highly customizable PKM that allowed users to organize their ideas in a flexible yet organized format, that is why we adopted a spatial grid system. Nook is a PKM software that allows users to organize their ideas through constructing spatial environments and an elegant web interface. Nook was designed under an object-oriented design philosophy that emphasized workspaces as the fundamental objects, navigation is done through bi-directional linking between the workspaces, and widgets are the primitives placed inside the workspaces. We've been planning on integrating MCP, plugins, an integrated AI assistant, and more widgets. We utilized a React + Vite typescript frontend and a Express.js + Socket.io backend using Sqlite with drizzle ORM for the database technology.
