Inspiration
We were inspired to make this project because of the rising popularity and influence of NFTs and digital assets in general, as well as our general interest in investing.
What it does
React was used to build a simple website. From there, the website should be able to run two python scripts.
One of these scripts goes through Twitter and scrapes tweets. From there, the tweets are run through a sentiment analyzer. This was done in order to understand a general consensus on the NFT/NFT collection.
The second python script goes through the data of the companies that created the NFT and graphs their trading/transaction history activity.
How we built it
The website was built using the Create React App, the react framework, and javascript. The python scripts were mainly written with beautifulsoup, selenium, and requests (for web scraping), spacy (for sentiment analysis), and matplotlib (for graphing data).
Challenges we ran into
One of the major challenges we ran into was the process of building the website. One of our members of our team tasked himself with creating it despite having no prior web development experience. It was difficult for him, but he managed to create a semi-functional site.
Another challenge we faced was retrieving company data. At first, we attempted to use the OpenSea API, but that was unorganized and difficult to use. One of our members was able to retrieve the data by learning about and then using the bitquery API.
A third challenge we ran into was creating the web scrapper for Twitter. Using the official Twitter API requires a Twitter development account and a long application process. Instead, one of the members of our team built a scrapper using web scraping libraries.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of the project we've created. Although the three different parts aren't fully integrated together, the individual pieces work well.
What we learned
We learned and had experience with the necessary elements of working together as a team.
What's next for Non-Fungible Tracker
The next step for the Non-Fungible Tracker is to integrate all parts of the project together, and include more methods for valuing NFTs.
