Inspiration
We were inspired by the web game called Snake. We have all played it before and decided to upgrade it to be non-Euclidean.
What it does
In our version of Snake, you are an otter eating coffee cups and the GitHub logo as you travel around a circle
How we built it
Art: Created some sketches of our otter based on the plushies that were given out. In Adobe Illustrator, we created designs, going through multiple iterations until we got one that worked.
Code: All the ideas, mechanics, planning, and direction were decided by us. We used GitHub Copilot to write the code
Challenges we ran into
1: Team members: We lost two of our team members right before the hackathon started and we had to pivot to find new members.
2: AI: We decided to use GitHub Copilot to help us code it, and some of our group members ran out of credits
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to take an old game idea and put a new twist on it, and we were able to create all the artwork and game idea by hand without the assistance of generative AI
What we learned
Character design process takes a ton of time and requires alot of itterations until it is the highest quality for the game
What's next for Hyper Otter
A good sleep for its creators
