Inspiration
We aimed to create a sustainable solar tracker that maximizes energy collection without using electricity.
What it does
The tracker uses gravity-based mechanics to adjust the solar panel’s angle throughout the day, aligning it with the sun.
How we built it
We used pivot arms, counterweights, and a central pivot to allow natural sun tracking and automatic reset in the morning.
Challenges
Balancing the panel weight and counterweights for smooth tracking and reliable resetting was difficult.
Accomplishments
We achieved a fully mechanical solar tracker that’s eco-friendly and suitable for off-grid use.
What we learned
We learned about optimizing mechanical systems for solar tracking without electrical components.
What's next
We plan to refine the design for improved stability and explore materials to enhance durability.
