When our team was introduced to the suggested topics, we immediately agreed to move in the direction of data visualization. The three of us all appreciate the impact that well-visualized data can have, not only on the immediate impressions of a single viewer of it, but also on the longer-term impact that comes with a large audience experiencing our interpretation of the data.
What it does
The app displays a world map, with the circles over the countries corresponding in size to the total energy consumption in that country for a specific year. Below the map, a slider allows the user to slide back and forth in time and view the consumption bubbles for different years. In this way, the user can build intuition about global-scale energy consumption trends.
How we built it
We built the app on the React.js framework.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We finished! And in about 24 hours. This was the first React app that any of the team has worked on, and to have completed this project in the time given is a great accomplishment for all of us.
