Inspiration

We’re KYZ TEAM, and NomadPage started at home. My mom is a teacher at a state school. A few years ago her school switched to E-Kundoluk, the e-journal that is now used in state schools and some private ones. It’s at its worst at the end of each quarter, right when teachers have to enter the final grades. That’s when the app gets slow and starts freezing. Once a student was given a 3 by mistake, and there was no way to delete it. He couldn’t bring his GPA back up and came out as a “C student” because of that one grade. There were plenty of smaller problems too, and we kept hearing about them at home. So we decided to build the diary we wished the school had.

What it does

NomadPage is an electronic diary that makes life easier for everyone at school. Teachers can upload a whole curriculum with one click, so they don’t have to type it in again and again and lose time on it. Class teachers can organize a parent meeting right on the site: they offer several dates, parents vote for the time that works for them, and the most popular one is chosen. Teachers can also set a coefficient for each grade, for example a lower weight for classwork or a higher one for an extra task. There are chats between students, teachers and parents, which saves everyone a lot of back and forth. At the end of every week, students get a short summary of how many grades they received and how many lessons they missed. Each student also has a profile with a characteristic, GPA, activities and achievements, which matter a lot when applying to a university.

How we built it

After deciding what problem we wanted to solve, we needed accurate data to understand how many people faced these difficulties and what challenges they experienced. As our second step, we conducted a survey of 100 people. The results showed that E-Kundoluk often loads slowly, sometimes loses data that users have to rewrite repeatedly, and lacks effective communication between students and teachers. We also compared E-Kundoluk with other electronic journal platforms to identify their strengths and weaknesses. After collecting and analyzing the information, we began developing NomadPage. First, we researched the essential features of an effective digital school diary. Then, we started building our website, focusing on its structure, functionality, and user experience. Throughout the development process, we used AI agents to help us address knowledge gaps and improve different parts of our project. We also studied and compared the code and features of platforms such as EduPage, Dnevnik.ru, and PowerSchool to identify missing functions and incorporate useful features into our own electronic journal.

Challenges we ran into

Our first major challenge was developing the electronic platform itself. After creating the initial draft of our website, only three sections were functional: the home page, the class register, and the grades section. At this stage, we realized that our platform had significant weaknesses and that we had overlooked many important details. Therefore, we asked our ICT teacher for help. He guided us on what needed to be changed and improved, which helped us make progress much faster. Gradually, we began adding more functional buttons and features. We also learned to anticipate how different parts of the platform would interact and what should happen after each action, making our electronic journal more functional and user-friendly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

KYZ TEAM is proud to create useful digital platforms that make education more accessible and convenient. Our main goal is to simplify the daily lives of teachers, students, and parents by helping them save time, communicate more effectively, and focus on what matters most: quality education. For us, NomadPage is more than just an electronic school diary; it is a step toward a more modern, convenient, and efficient educational system in Kyrgyzstan.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we gained valuable skills and experience. We learned how to collect and analyze data, conduct research, and develop a website. We also improved our ability to collaborate effectively with our teammates and teacher, as well as communicate our ideas clearly so that others could understand them. Additionally, we learned how to write effective AI prompts for research, allowing us to find relevant information, address knowledge gaps, and improve our project. These experiences helped us grow both technically and as a team.

What's next for NomadPage

Our next step is to introduce NomadPage to our school, making it the first institution to use our platform. After that, we plan to develop a mobile application so users can access NomadPage both through a website and an app. Our long-term goal is to present our idea to Kyrgyzstan as a modern alternative to the existing electronic journal and implement it in educational institutions across the country. Eventually, we hope to expand internationally, allowing schools and students beyond Kyrgyzstan to benefit from our platform. We believe in our idea, our team's potential, and our ability to turn this vision into reality. We believe we can make it happen!
