Inspiration
Social Media apps in today's generation encourage others to share their fun experiences, but none incentivize their users to venture outdoors and explore the world. An app to share user experiences while traveling can inspire others to go out more, and make our generation true pioneers.
What it does
The app functions as a cross-platform mobile application, with 4 main pages (Explore, Profile, Camera, and Gallery) allowing the user to view, create, and like posts on user profiles. Google Vision and Compute camera features allow users to verify their images at specified landmarks, and lets them share their exact location at the time of the image.
How we built it
The app was built as a full-stack application, with React Native allowing for users on any device to access the application and share their images. Google Vision API and Landmark Detection lets the saved camera photos be viewed in the user's gallery, and able to be posted on a Profile page.
Challenges we ran into
Members of our team were new to the React Native framework, so learning and developing methods for it was a challenge. Photo uploading and photo management was definitely a difficult part as most http requests can't send that large of a payload.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Working image recognition system, and Google Vision API, and React Native Front-end
What we learned
React Native, Google Vision API, Figma, NodeJS, Full-Stack Development
