Inspiration
We were aware of how cities can harm peoples hearing by exposing them to medium/high levels of noise over very long periods of time, and with all the modern mapping technologies today, we felt there were ways to avoid this.
What it does
This allows users to visualize where loud noises are happening in their local area and scroll through time to see how it changes.
How we built it
We used react and mongodb. The app was deployed through Vercel.
Challenges we ran into
We had to overcome some learning challenges when it came to vercel and using breadboards.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We also developed a hardware component of the application that can successfully upload noise data to our application!
What we learned
We learned how to use vercel live deployment and connect internet of things (IOT) devices to external databases
What's next for NoiseScape
Time to collect data! With the app working, we just need the data to fill up our maps.
