Inspiration

Our team has been working with peer-to-peer technologies for the past 12 years. We know exactly why P2P is the best architecture to deliver massive amount of traffic over the internet. And we believe that decentralization is the key to building more reliable, affordable and engaging internet services for billions of people on the planet.

What it does

NODR is an ecosystem where regular internet users can sell the internet bandwidth they don’t use while they at work, rest, travel or spending time with friends and family. And where any website or app developers from startups to big corporation can buy the content delivery services.

The ecosystem could provide additional income to the people in a developing countries, as well as improve the access to educational content, news, entertainment etc. NODR tokenomics allow non-profit website owners to get free and resilient CDN so their users can have access to website from any country.

How we built it

Our company have already built a solution for online video industry: a WebRTC enabled P2P CDN under that name Teleport Media - www.teleport.media. It helps deliver video for over 2 million people every day!

Now we’ve created an app that any internet user can install on home or office server, desktop or laptop and other internet connected devices. This app called NODR connects the device to distributed CDN so NODR can host data of various internet businesses and deliver it to end-users. We start with live and on-demand video, however NODR can deliver almost any other content.

NODR ecosystems include tools for website and app developers that make them easy to implement NODR network as CDN. And a cross-platform NODR app for users who what to sell their bandwidth.

Challenges we ran into

This is our first time we work with HederaTokenService and HederaConsensusService. We had to integrate our real-life application with those services through a newly designed NODR Validator and create the Smart Contract that would reflect the real world CDN business model introducing crypto reward to devices running our NODR app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Using Go SDK we’ve developed an application called Validator that uses HCS to compare data from different parties and confirms the actual amount of traffic delivered from NODR apps to viewers. We’ve created a demo-site that demonstrates how NODR delivers video to viewer and how it is rewarded with NDR tokens on Hedera. You can try it!.

And we’ve implement NODR tokenomics fundamentals into the smart contract that interacts with Validators and engages HTS for deflationary minting and transferring NDR tokens to NODR wallets based on their work.

What we learned

Through hackathon our team have learned how to use Hedera JS and Go SDKs and how to publish a smart contract and use it with HTS to organize the steady token flow based on the data flow from our real world application.

What's next for NODR

NODR app shall be integrated with fast and cost-effective distributed ledger like Hedera. This will allow us to pay NODR operators in crypto for the traffic delivered to end-users. This will help grow NODR network to 100'000 active devices within next 12-18 months.
