Inspiration

In an era of "Hyper-Chaos" where a single maritime blockage, a localized skirmish, or a corporate scandal can trigger global economic contagion, the standard news cycle is too slow. We built Node04 to bridge the gap between reaction and anticipation. We wanted to create a "Tactical Headquarters" for the modern strategist: someone who needs to see the invisible threads in the world.

What it does

  1. Multimodal Synthesis: Uses Gemini AI to analyze raw geopolitical events, corporate liability data, and market indicators simultaneously.
  2. Predictive Simulation Lab: A dedicated "Temporal Hub" where users can project scenarios up to 168 hours into the future. It doesn't just predict what will happen; its Neural Kernel logs the step-by-step logic of why a scenario is likely.
  3. Conflict & Logistics Mapping: Real-time visualization of supply chain chokepoints and geopolitical "Tactical Zones" with AI-generated risk scores.
  4. Truth Verification Terminal: A specialized module that ingest conflicting narratives and produces "Grounding Reports" to filter signal from noise.
  5. Aesthetic Modularity: A UI that adapts to the environment—switching between high-energy "Glitch" modes for crisis monitoring and "Void" for focused deep-work.

How we built it

  1. Core: Built with React 18 and TypeScript for a rock-solid, type-safe architecture.
  2. Intelligence: Powered by the Gemini 1.5 Flash model via the @google/genai SDK. This allows us to perform complex "chained reasoning" for the Simulation Lab.
  3. Motion & UX: Utilized Framer Motion (motion/react) to create a tactile, "Expert System" feel, complete with orbital navigation and smooth view transitions.
  4. Data Visualization: Recharts and Tradingview for market trends and custom SVG-based mapping for maritime logistics.
  5. Styling: Tailwind CSS with a custom CSS variable architecture to support four distinctive aesthetic modes (Void, Clean, Neon, Glitch) on the fly.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest hurdle was Temporal Grounding. Asking an AI to predict the future is easy; asking it to predict a plausible future based on specific, non-linear maritime data is difficult. We overcame this by implementing a Reasoning Schema that forces the AI to output its internal projection logic (the "Neural Logs") before locking in a final probability.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of the Fact Checker Terminal. We managed to create a UI that feels like an "Instrument" rather than a website. The way the AI process logs stream in, adds sources, red flags, before the final verdict provides a sense of transparency and weight to the AI's conclusions that most models lack.

What we learned

Building Node04 taught us that UI is a form of Intelligence. By giving the AI "logs" and "reasoning steps" in the UI, we realized we weren't just showing data, we were teaching the user how the AI "thinks" about risk. We also learned the importance of "Aesthetic Context", how a simple shift in theme from "Clean" to "Matrix" can change the user's psychological approach to crisis data.

What's next for Node04

Industry-Specific Nodes: Specialized versions of Node04 for Energy, Defense, and Semiconductor supply chains.
