Inspiration

Given Hedera offers one of the most sustainable ways to develop NFTs, this project was designed to demonstrate the force for good that is enabled by this element of Hedera. Node-ice NFTs also demonstrate the impact NFTs can offer artworks that is unique to the technology underpinning NFTs (enabling the art itself to be impacted by technology). The dynamic NFT collections that make up the platform's first drops involve artworks of landscapes and places around the world whose weather conditions are impacted by the weather. The platform leverages Chainlink’s Accuweather Node to change the weather conditions seen in the artworks. This is done to remind people that the environment matters in how it influences people and society and has a real impact on life.

What it does

The purpose of the Node-ice API is to enable creatives to design and deploy dynamic NFT collections. At first, for this leg of the project during the hackathon, Node-ice is integrated into the Provvy marketplace that accepts creatives on a case by case basis to help them formulate their dynamic NFT collections which can be NFTs that respond to any real-time data (in this case, we’ve chosen to exhibit ones that respond to weather data). However as the project expands, the plan is to create a plug-and-play dynamic NFT builder that will provide an API for anyone to use even if they don’t choose to exhibit their collection on the Provvy marketplace. This will include for projects wanting to deploy on other NFT Marketplaces. This will be accomplished by forging partnerships with other NFT Marketplaces and in this way, the API can be monetised by requiring other platforms to pay a commission to Node-ice to integrate its API which can be charged per transaction as paid by the minting party.

How we built it

The smart contracts are written in solidity and are integrated with Hedera. The project utilises the Chainlink node developed by Accuweather.

Challenges we ran into

At first, we weren't sure whether the Chainlink node was available under Hedera because we'd pitched our project in the Hedera Hackathon Discord and someone had commented that the Chainlink integration was not available. We were happy to see that it synced perfectly! We had first gotten the idea from reading that Hedera was partnering with Chainlink but had thought maybe the integration hadn't taken place yet.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Synced the Chainlink node.

What we learned

To try something technically even if others thought it impossible.

What's next for Node-is Dynamic NFT API

The Node-ice Roadmap is based on conservative staging but involves launching our first lot of dynamic NFT collections this quarter. Shortly after, we will develop our custom builder before launching our partner program.
