Inspiration : Our team wanted to invest in a better build product, which wasn't available for sale in our country, hence we turned to an international online shopping platform. However, we noted that the rate for conversion from INR to USD was quite high, making the product out of our budget. Hence, we decided to build upon a feature that will help the user to shop without worrying about these extra charges
What it does: After a lot of hard work, we ended up building NobbiesPay, named after our team NobbiesHack. Through our payment portal, the customer would be able to shop internationally without worrying about this extra cost. We currently work through Ethereum, but we plan to expand to various currencies used across the world. We believe that our idea can be a major game-changer in the world of online payments. To our knowledge, there is no other portal that allows users direct payment.
How we built it: Our team has managed to create an user-friendly UI through extensive codes in languages HTML, CSS, and JS to allow the customer to easily navigate through the portal as they make their payments. The user entered data gets stored in Firebase, their Ethereum accounts are maintained through Ganache and their transactions monitored through MetaMask.
Challenges we ran into: Throughout the process, we experienced several challenges. We had to figure out ways through which we can keep the user's data safe, making sure the payments went into the right accounts. We had to carefully plan each and every detail before we went in to code the processes. Finding out ways to verify user IDs was also another challenge. Although difficult, our team absolutely enjoyed working through them. We had differences in opinions at times and we all managed to come through those to produce the best output.
Accomplishments that we are proud of: This project is a result of our hardwork. We have spent the last 4 nights, sleeplessly working on building this project. We are extremely proud of the outcome and we hope you'll be too. Each member has devoted an equal amount of time and effort in the project. Our biggest accomplishment is all the skills and knowledge we have gained in the process. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity
What we learned: The entire experience of the hackathon has helped us learn immensely. As our name suggests, Nobbies Hack (pronounced as 'Noobies Hack') we were all new to the field of online payment gateways. Through the project we have learned about Blockchain and payment gateways in great detail. We also got the opportunity to be able to research data regarding online transactions, hence giving us a great opportunity to learn many things.
What's next for NobbiesPay: If you wonder what's next for NobbiesPay? We've got a whole lot planned! We plan to move on to transacting not only Ethereum, but in a lot of other currencies, with the aim to allow transactions in every currency on earth. We plan to be available on every online shopping platform like Amazon, Alibaba, Etsy, etc. We truly believe this can change the course of online payments.
