No touch hospital appointment booking

Inspiration

The inspiration was to help prevent disease spread among covid and non-covid patients/frontline workers at hospital by removing the need for any interaction among people for small tasks that can be automated.

What it does

Software helps patients book an appointment with their doctor at hospital without requiring to come in contact with anyone. Generally, in our country, you can't pre-book doctor's appointment due to lack of infrastructure/internet accessibility, so people generally go to hospital to get an appointment before seeing a doctor. Our software will reduce the need to have a dedicated person at these hospitals to cater to incoming patient to give them an appointment and also reduce their risk of contact.

How we built it

We used a facial recognition tool using open source repos to first create a facial recognition software that can recognize a patient's face and extract it's details from database if they have used the software or store their data if the person is using the software for the first time. Then, we use a rule-based chatbot with speech recognition capability to give the patient option to choose which doctor to see and then book their appointment.

Challenges we ran into

Almost no knowledge of JavaScript and Flask, so constructing the web application was a huge task. We are completing the project with just 15 mins left.

Incorporating a ML based chatbot to diagnose a patient to further help improve their treatments and improving the speech recognition capability of the software.
