Inspiration
No Splash was born from a raw and very personal wound. My cousin Mark, whose time I cherished, died while on a humanitarian mission in Sudan.
Aid organizations often suppress foreign deaths to protect ongoing missions. They became a “ghost” so others could live. That paradox—a life sacrificed to remain invisible—became the soul of this film.
(This film is a work of fiction inspired by these events; all characters and specifics are fictionalized.)
“You don’t want a splash. A splash means they shut us down.”
— Miles, Scene 2
What I Learned
- Grief today is digital and claustrophobic. Truth hides in encrypted chats, satellite maps, and redacted reports.
- AI preserves memory. Tools like HeyGen resurrected their humour in Miles. Eleven Labs gave Muhammad’s voice the weight of lived trauma.
- Silence speaks loudest. 80% of tension is non-verbal—blinking cursors, vanishing typing dots, server hum.
At this point, mainstream media seems shut off to talking about Sudan. This film is a quiet act of resistance.
What it does
No Splash is a 7.13 mins AI-generated short film that traps the viewer inside one room, one screen, and one sister’s desperate search for her brother — an aid worker erased by warzone bureaucracy. Through glitch-lit close-ups, symbolic B-roll of dust-covered graves, and a haunting cello line, it transforms digital grief into a visceral call to remember the unseen.
How we built it
A[Condensed 1-Act Play] --> B[HeyGen: Avatars + Dialogue]
B[I am the face of Talia and voice of Talia]
C[Open Art + Hailuo: B-Roll] --> D[DaVinci Resolve: Final Edit]
E[Eleven Labs: VO] --> D
F[Suno: Cello Score] --> D
D --> G[3:30 Final, 16:9, Subtitled]
Challenges we ran into
No body, no grave → Solved with a single shot: stones vanishing under wind.
AI lip-sync drift → 7 re-renders of Muhammad’s pause until his silence hurt.
Emotional truth → Used my own face and tears for the template of Talia’s breakdown.
File bloat → H.264 export in DaVinci Resolve shaved 60% off size.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
100% AI pipeline — from voice to visuals to score.
One-room claustrophobia that feels like a 10-hour descent.
First AI film to weaponize absence — the missing body becomes the loudest character.
Honoured a real life without exposing it. Privacy + power.
What we learned
Silence > dialogue — 80% of impact is non-verbal.
AI doesn’t replace memory — it amplifies it.
Mainstream media is allergic to Sudan — so we became the signal.
What's next for No Splash
What's next for No Splash Festival circuit → Chroma, Fairground.tv, AI Film fests, RADTV, New World Alliances Humanitarian Network, and more.
No Splash led me to be offered the role of Global Head of Arts (part-time unpaid - I kept my freedom) for NWA Arts Projects, where I'm uniting artists, writers, painters, film makers, musicians, crafters, Ai film makers, actors, across genres under the Divine Arts banner to amplify voices like these. More AI - driven stories coming soon, small budgets, big truths. Divine Arts isn't a job - it's a mission: make sacred work with tools the game keepers can't touch yet. If you would like to join in this mission please get in touch.
