Inspiration

This interactive story was inspired by the game “My Child Lebensborn” and by documented real life accounts of child marriage shared by survivors online. These sources highlighted the emotional and social impact of forced marriage at a young age, motivating the creation of an experience that raises awareness of this issue.

What it does

It tells the story of child marriage through the perspective of the child, raising awareness on how child marriages negatively impact their growth and future potentials by forcing them towards adult responsibilities at a very young age.

How we built it

We developed this interactive story through a collaborative and experimental coding process, combining creative storytelling with technical implementation to create an engaging user experience.

Challenges we ran into

It was a challenge to visualize and finalize the storyline which took up quite some time and there were some debates about the interface design. However, after discussing further we eventually reached an agreement.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the accessibility features on this interactive story as it does not require users to physically click anything when making choices and progressing with the story. Using OpenCV, users can look around the scenario and make choices by simply holding up a certain amount of fingers to choose options from.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we expanded our technical and creative skill sets by exploring unfamiliar tools and approaches. We also strengthened our teamwork and collaboration skills, learning how to adapt to group workflows in order to produce a unified final outcome.

What's next for No Real Choice

Future improvements include integrating sounds to enhance the atmosphere and overall user experience, making the story more immersive and emotionally engaging.
